Let’s Go CROWD SURFING! Michele Bachman!

We made a very bold decision for The Ambitious Show this Friday…we decided to choreograph Crowd Surfing into a dance number or two. This wouldn’t be problem except for the fact that the whole idea of Crowd Surfing is that you have a CROWD!!! Therefore, its more important than EVER for people to be in the audience. Not just a few people…but A LOT of people.  If we do have a crowd, its going to be an amazing moment for everyone in the room. If we don’t have a crowd, at least of the Lady Circus dancers is going to be leaving with a broken leg… or face.

So we kindly ask you, our adoring audience, to come support us in the most literal way imaginable Friday…and help us Crowd Surf. Bring your friends, your lovers, your landlord. We need all the help we can get.

Ps. Michele Bachmann will be MCing the Political Variety Show this Thursday. Don’t believe us? Come and see for yourself. She may also crowd surf.

Sky Box POLITICAL Aerial and Variety Show

More often than not, live “entertainment,” by which we mean everything from l.e.s. Performance Art (capital A) to the most over-produced Broadway spectacle (just capital), is regarded as a mere distraction from the woes of the “real” world. At best, entertainment is sometimes perceived as a metaphor for the state of current affairs, but, for the most part, ART is considered to be just for fun, while POLITICS has pretenses to being for realz!

Yet politics and performance have way more in common than the disciples of each would likely be comfortable admitting. For example, both politicians and performers command authority and power, both have to twist reality, not only to keep their audiences engaged, but also to convert them to their point of view, both can be bought, both have to wear costumes to work, and last, but definitely not least, they both have parties!!!

After spending the past three and a half years unabashedly indulging in everything aesthetic, entertainment-driven and silly, the Sky Box at the House of Yes would like to invite you to come and get serious as we discuss the bureaucratic, civic, constitutional, economical and legislative landscapes of the world today. Unavoidably, there will still be plenty of acrobatics and sexiness, just like the Republican primaries!
