After months of trying to be good (we installed a 7 foot tall cross right over the stage for the whole month of Jesus’s birthday) and not throw any parties ever, we’re somehow (yet again!) hosting an event that encourages stealing and illegal immigration on Friday and then glorifying the all-American outlaw lifestyle on Sunday.

:::::::::::Friday, January 8th:::::::::::

Thunder Gumbo III: Steal This Party

Much to their surprise the first thing the Thunder Gumbo crew saw in their intergalactic journey were a crew of Santa Clauses in the heart of ancient Babylon. However, they soon realized that the bunch of jolly drunk bastards speaking german in red suits knew of a way to steal 200 million dollars from an evil government of the future……
Finally the gumbers could afford to hold a performance contest to see who was the greatest criminal in the history of the universe. The winner of the contest would get to steal the party!

Consider The Source
From Eastern-European folk melodies and Indian rhythmic cycles to funky rock riffs and break beat drum & bass, audiences can’t decide whether to mosh, rave or belly dance.

Hellfire Machina
These guys are straight-up some of the best and most well known dubstep producers and Dj’s in New York. They are the shit!

Geko Jones
Renowned by top DJ’s and producers of the digital cumbia scene in Latin America and European bass-pundits alike

Vox Illuminati
Perfect for galactic freakouts…..sort of like the Butthole Surfers but more drunk. Sexy rocking criminal conspiracies.

Morphous
Fucking great dubstep producer and DJ with a late night set that will evaporate your socks.

Ultimate Performance Criminal Championship Contestants:
Joro Boro, Dr. Dolomite, Dr. Adventure, Jameela (Kabuki/Bellydance), Japon, Akim Funk Buddha, Sarah Alden(violin), Don Hope (Tuba/drums/percussion), Mitchell (Accordion/trombone)

Also featuring……………
Criminal visual VJ presentations by Justin Lange, Fugitive Face Painting by Kendalle Fiasco, Trenchcoat potion selling girls, $200,000,000 brought through the roof of the House of Yes with an incredible aerialist feat and….. a hookah.

In the modern world we’re all criminals whether or not we have victims, come to celebrate with us as a bank robber, mafia don, speakeasy operator, ninja assassin, batman villains, art thief, or straight up gansta! Yeahya!
8p-late, $10 with password

Mickey Western: The American Way :: RE-BOOT EXTRAVAGANZA

You’ve seen them play tinfoil covered art galleries, Western-themed circus shows, 8 hour-long Halloween sets, and blizzards all over this great land. Three weeks ago, on the eve of the greatest storm of the decade, the Mickey Western Band released their newest creation: The American Way. Despite historically low attendance at shopping centers and for the opening of “Avatar”, hundreds came out for the Mickey Western Band-Wagon. Some people couldn’t get in, and a few even got frostbite. For those folks, and you, the Mickey Western Band is pleased to bring a CD re-release party. Three months in the making, the album will be re-presented live, in its entirety, for one night only in the place it was recorded: The House of Yes. Featuring crazed country rave-ups, rocking odes to gambling and murder, plaintive ballads, and a steely, hard look back at How The West Was Won, you owe it to yourself to join in its re-celebration. With re-acrobatics and
re-hijinks by Lady Circus and the House of Yes, re-screenings of original motion pictures (starring members of the Mickey Western Band!) by CineGenius, re-projections and re-spectaculars by the Junkman, and a re-propaganda table by the Chelsea Gonzo.

All who attend will receive their very own copy of The American Way.
7:30p doors, 8 show; $10 entry includes a complimentary CD. Yes re-entry.

Congratulations everyone, 2009 is finally over. We hear 2010 will be the best year of your life.

::::::::::::Thursday, December 31st:::::::::::::::::::

There is not a New Years Eve party at the House of Yes simply because what we are planning on doing is just a little too “DANGER”ious for our humble little theater. Instead, all the usual suspects are taking over a whole floor of a warehouse just 4 blocks away. We’re bringing our upright piano, aerial gear, our favorite brass bands and building a full carnival, corn dog stand included!!!

The party starts at 3rd Ward down the street, but if you wanna skip that and go straight to the circus go to 341 Scholes St. (right next to Morgan Ave) We’re on the first floor. Its so fancy!

We’re opening doors at 11 pm, and going till VERY late.

Come celebrate with the Lady Circus, Man Circus (our manly friends from the boat!) Stumblebum Brass Band, Raya Brass Band, Mikey Freedom-Hart and the moving piano lounge, Mickey Western, Vintage DJ, Mike Richtor the slack line pro, Owen the Big Skinny, Select members of FUCT comedy troupe and much much more.

Best thing ever and the greatest show on earth!

Cuddle Magic travels far and wide with tons of instruments, lamps, and a penguin. They make venues seem smaller. They make music with violins, drums, clarinets, basses, trumpets, keyboards, guitars, banjos, harmonicas, recorders, flutes, a vibraphone, and voices. They are as friendly and inclusive as their name might suggest — after forming as a quintet over a year ago, they have gradually come to incorporate more and more of their musical friends into the band, constructing intricate soundscapes that include elements of folk music, avant-garde classical music, world music, and urban music.

This is a good show to take your parents or your jazz professor to. We promise.
$10 donation. Bring a bottle of wine with you for a classy good time.
